Another example of a well sung opera compromised by wilful production. Unpleasing scenery-the sacred oak severed and suspended in midair above a barn and stockyard, costumes unhistorical and it is distracting to change cumbersome scenery during a scene.Of course Radvanovsky,s Norma has few rivals but there is one-Maria Callas
Another superior release from Barcelona

Kunde seems excellent in everything he has done recently.Radvanovsky has no equal today in the heavier bel canto/spinto repertory, Hopefully she will be able to preserve the voice and give us pleasure for a few more years.

Another excellent production from Barcelona. The sound and picture are great, the subtitles have some strange spellings at times, but so what? I love the way that Norma, Radvanovsky, sings the highest notes quietly and purely (a la Monserrat Caballe). For me, Kunde is past his prime, but the rest of the cast is in top form. This is a very good Norma.

I believe that this is the best Norma currently available on DVD. It was made from a January 2015 HD telecast from the Grand Licieu in Barcelona. Picture and sound are outstanding. The singers are outstanding, with my sense that Radvanovsky is the best Norma on stage at present, and one of the best I have ever heard. Dramatics are excellent from all singers, with special kudos to Gregory Kunde, whose voice at present is a bit dry, but whose sense of the part is exceptional. Not to be missed for lovers of Bel Canto!
